my excellent wife craigslisted me some seats for my birthday present (note: the entire car was a wedding present 10 years ago, she knows me well)

Kinja'd!!!

yup, "recardos", as it is now just a daily driver and my only car, I had to have something that reclined (to get kids in the back) and on sliders so my 5 foot tall wife could drive the car sometimes. No more hard mounted, super low down seats... for now :D Sold my legit FIA certified seats a few months back.

someday I'll go for something more spartan, perhaps in another 10 years when my daughter turns 16 and plows it into a tree, the rebuild will be more along these lines

I had a little monkey and
I sent him to the country and I fed him on gingerbread
Along came a choo choo, knocked my monkey coo-coo
And now my monkey's dead
Poor little monkey

(What I make is what I am, I can't be forever)
We are out own wicked gods
With little "g's" and big dicks
Sadistic and constantly inflicting a slow demise

I didn't notice that. I guess it's a monkey toy.

That is all.

Yay!

Man, I wish my car came with the Recaros out of the Evo X so much. They're so much more comfortable than the base Lancer's seats. Also, my back sucks. That, too.

Didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but just ... be careful, y'know?

oh no, I'm well aware of the issues. I did much researchering before approving the purchase. The rails and brackets are name brand, Sparco, and the seat reviewed well, although like you said, I am rolling the dice as it doesn't have any crash certifications.

I like it...but the one in the passenger seat looks nicer than the one in the driver...did you get a pair, or is that how you're running it?

Also, holes for a 5-point. Just mount all of those points to the floor in the back seat, and you'll be Honda-cruisin'! (or, you know, you could do it right and put a crossbar behind the seats welded to the frame, but what fun is a 5-point if you don't break both collar-bones and dislocate both shoulders in a front impact?)

no, its a pair. Picture was taken after bringing it home. They are still awaiting pairing with the bases so I can actually bolt them in. Need to buy some new high grade bolts and such.
